One of the active ingredients in the biocide that we use is Di-Decyldimethyl Ammonium Chloride which is commonly referred to as DDAC.
The algicidal, bactericidal, fungicidal and virucidal efficacy of DDAC has been known for over 50 years and its efficacy against these organisms is widely published.
The DDAC that is active in our biocide is also used as the active ingredient in several disinfectants that have been tested according to EN 14476 and proven to be effective against adenovirus, poliovirus and Murine norovirus (MNV).
These three viruses are non-enveloped viruses and are very difficult to inactivate by chemical disinfectants, as a result, formulations which have passed this standard are seen as entirely virucidal (including coronavirus which is an envelope virus) according to EN 14476.
We are pleased to confirm that this includes the Novel Coronavirus that causes Covid19.
This gives our customers the additional peace of mind that as well as cleaning the unsightly algae and biomass staining, their properties are also being disinfected.
We are regularly employed by the HSE and County Councils and have treated properties from Cork University Hospital to residential homes in Bundoran, Co. Donegal.
